Rail disruption throughout August, better to travel by coach
Posted in Industry news
Engineering work will begin on the West Coast Main Line to London in August. The work will proceed on the section between London Euston and Watford Junction. National Rail plans to carry out these repairs over three weekends between 9 and 26 August 2014, including the August Bank Holiday.
The work will impact most of Virgin Trains, London Midland, London Overground and Southern Railways and will affect everyone using these services to travel to and from London from destinations including; Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Glasgow and Coventry.
A good alternative for this period may be National Express and Megabus coaches. These carriers offer direct links to and from London with time travel comparable to rail services during the work. There's no denying the prices are also encouraging, because coaches are the best and most affordable way to travel around Britain.
Coaches are modern vehicles equipped with air conditioning, comfortable reclining seats and a toilet. Some services provide free Wi-Fi. You can also travel with luggages at no extra charge.
